Amy O'Neill
B. 1971 Amy P. O’Neill was born in Beaver, Pennsylvania. O’Neill studied at the Pratt Institute in New York on a full scholarship then attended Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan where she completed her MFA in 1996. She lived in Switzerland for seven years where she realized two public permanent projects commissioned by the French government. Her most recent solo expositons have occurred at Pinksummer, in Genova , Italy, the Chateau Bussy-Rabutin in France and Karma, New York, NY.
Through sculpture, drawings and films, Amy draws upon American vernacular culture, history and folklore, foregrounding their strangeness and blurring distinctions between the past and present.
